What is Permanent Makeup?

Semi Permanent Makeup

Known as Permanent Makeup, Semi Permanent Makeup, Derma Graphics or Cosmetic Tattooing, this is a procedure whereby minute particles of natural and synthetic iron oxide colour pigments of pharmaceutical grade are implanted a little more than 1mm below the skin’s surface, using a hand-piece which holds a sterile needle or needle grouping.

Is it a tattoo?

A conventional tattoo is implanted to a depth of 3mm below the exfoliating layers of skin and the inks used in tattooing are carbon based, which is why they remain there permanently. In contrast, the depth of semi permanent makeup varies depending on which area of the face is being pigmented. Areas such as lips and eyebrows can be pigmented a little deeper to a depth of around 2mm, the eye-lash area a little less. The pigments used are hypoallergenic and non-reactive within the body.
